Check this meebo dealie out…

evanbanks:

Meebo is a social media service that makes sharing easy. I like the drag and drop sharing capacity- originally featured on Mashable.com. Take a look at this sample page. The chat toolbar running across the bottom of Meebo-supported sites, however, is mostly useless.

Looks like there’s a movement calling for Drupal developers to come up with a similar module for drag and drop sharing- there are already several WordPress options out there.

Drupal Modules

I have been looking through some of the modules for Drupal, and seeing how many there are, I created some search criteria in my mind, so that I do not get buried under the possiblities.

1. Ease of use. (Is this module a simple and straightforward way of accomplishing our goal? I remember not to bite off more than I can chew).

2. Part of the wireframe theme I am working on. (Without space, there is no module … duh.).

3. Is it super awesome?

Anyways, I have decided on a couple that look pretty good to me.

Twitter Pull

(Description pulled from module page)

Twitter Pull is a small module, the only purpose of which is to allow super-easy embedding of public twitter data like: a user timeline or twitter search results by hashtag or a search term. The emphasis is on making these very specific tasks as easy and straightforward as possible.

Dash Media Player

The Dash Media Player for Drupal CMS is a revolutionary, first of its kind, free to use media player built specifically to tap into the power of Drupal CMS!

I know, its totally exciting. But really, this module offers ranking systems, voting and sharing for the videos, which I hope will boost the social networking aspect of this project.

Aggregator Summary

A modification of the News Aggregator to show categorized feeds from multiple sources on 1 page

I think this would work well for our content aggregation system to create a series of news links about climate change.

Drupal Theme: Waffles

So in what I am pretty sure was a message aimed directly at myself, I have decided that the Drupal Theme “Waffles” looks like it will have my vote for the new American Forum Web site. Its clean, but offers a good look and feel for what is a relatively shallow project (not shallow as in bad, but as in a sort of temporary event, not heavily supported).

It has wide support across multiple web browsers, and it comes with enough flexibility to give us a lot of wiggle room. It seems that I am not alone in my appreciation, more and more people are using this theme.

Choosing a theme and wireframing

Just wanted to let all my readers know (that’s you, mom) that I am getting a jump on trying to wireframe a Web site for the American Forum. Here’s hoping I come up with something not completely laughable.
